Many overseas buyers need to make decisions before seeing a property in person. A structured remote process, combining video, independent reports and careful contract conditions, can close much of that information gap.
Use video and live inspections
Ask the agent for a live video walkthrough, a full photo set and a floor plan. Record the walkthrough so you can review it later, and request specific shots of kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor areas and anything that concerns you.
Verify with independent experts
Order an independent building and pest inspection and, where relevant, a valuation. An independent local agent can also give a market view that is separate from the selling agent’s marketing.
Condition the contract
Make your offer conditional on satisfactory reports and finance, and on any approvals you need as an overseas buyer. If you cannot attend settlement, arrange a power of attorney or electronic signing through your conveyancer.
